About Taos Ski Valley
Taos Ski Valley lies in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico. Swiss ski pioneer Ernie Blake and his family founded the resort in the 1950s, and French skier Jean Mayer later established its ski school and Ski Week tradition, bringing European hospitality to the valley. The mountain is known for steep expert terrain, with dedicated beginner areas at the Rio Hondo Learning Center. The Blake offers slopeside lodging near Lift 1, and summer brings lift-served mountain biking and a guided via ferrata.
