About Sun Valley Resort

Sun Valley Resort, near Ketchum in Idaho, opened in 1936 as America’s first destination ski resort and saw the world’s first chairlift. Skiing spans two mountains. Bald Mountain, known as Baldy, offers sustained fall-line descents with runs from beginner to expert, reached by the Roundhouse Express gondola from the River Run base, with day lodges on and around the slopes. Dollar Mountain is the dedicated learning mountain, with beginner-friendly slopes, a terrain park and Carol’s Dollar Mountain Lodge.
