Northstar California Resort

Northstar California Resort sits in the Martis Valley near Truckee, on the north side of Lake Tahoe, surrounded by forest and quiet valleys; it grew from a former tree farm into a resort in 1972. Its slopes cover Mt. Pluto, an extinct volcano, and the Backside Express area, with mostly intermediate terrain alongside beginner runs, advanced lines and terrain parks. A pedestrian village at the base brings together restaurants, shops, an ice rink and events, and a cross-country trail network adds quieter outings. Northstar is especially popular with families.
